Horse Of The Week - Bathcounty.

Bathcounty is a Chestnut Thoroughbred, by Tobougg (IRE) and out of Seasons Estates (GB).  B.C HeadHe is 16.1hh, 8-years-old and is owned by Dr. Ian Cragg. Affectionately known on the yard as ‘BC’, Bathcounty was nominated for Horse Of The Week by Geraldine Astbury. Geraldine explains: “I have known BC for 11 months since starting to ride out for Barry Brennan, his trainer.  Barry Brennan foaled BC, so has known him right from the beginning and will always have a soft spot for him.  I personally, took an instant liking to BC, as does everyone who rides him, he is just so genuine, and definitely my yard favourite!  He is a true gentleman, who knows his job, is a lovely ride and very easy to handle.  Currently running in Bathcounty (Ire) 1hurdle races of two miles; BC has had 24 runs in total to date.  Three of those were National Hunt Flat races, and 21 were Hurdle races.  He has been placed 5 times, and has won 3 times.  There has been a noted improvement in his performance, for which Gastric Comfort must take some credit.” Bathcounty (Ire)“ He certainly seems happier and the results are proof enough that it works!  Although not stopped completely, his windsucking has been eased also, since using Gastric Comfort.  I really do believe that this supplement has helped.” “Bathcounty’s racing was put on hold for a while as he recovered from an injury that was sustained whilst turned out in the field a while Bathcounty(Ire)3ago.  He was fed No Fill whilst he recuperated which very much helped to keep his hind legs normal while on box rest,  BC is definitely my yard favourite and such a good ride!  Our plans for the future are merely to keep Bathcounty happy and to keep him in his winning ways!” Upsettingly, shortly after we wrote this article, BC ran at Southwell Racecourse in a 2 mile hurdle. He hit the first hurdle heavily pitched on landing, and was pulled up having broken his near fore elbow. He was put to sleep instantly. Needless to say all that knew him are devastated.
